Why Preseason Preparation Matters
The first official team practices do not begin until the week of August 31. That means athletes have several valuable weeks to prepare before meeting their coaches and teammates.
Young players who enter the season with a foundation in footwork, throwing, catching, route running and overall movement can spend less time trying to learn the basics and more time contributing to their team.
Preseason training can help athletes:
Improve speed, balance and coordination
Develop proper throwing and catching fundamentals
Learn how to run routes with better timing and precision
Build confidence before the first team practice
Get accustomed to listening, competing and working within a structured practice
At the younger ages, preparation is not about placing pressure on a child to perform. It is about helping them feel comfortable, capable and excited when the season begins.
Prepare for the Season With Little Legends
Little Legends Football will offer weekly Speed and Agility and Quarterback Fundamentals sessions beginning the weekend of August 8 in Lakeway.
These sessions are designed for young Lake Travis-area athletes who want to prepare for football and other fall sports in a positive, small-group environment.
Our Speed and Agility sessions focus on:
Quick feet and coordination
Acceleration and change of direction
Balance and body control
Athletic movement and confidence
Our Quarterback Fundamentals sessions focus on:
Proper throwing mechanics
Footwork and pocket movement
Ball handling
Accuracy and decision-making
Age-appropriate quarterback development
The timing gives athletes several weeks of focused preparation before LTYA practices begin during the week of August 31.
Whether your child is preparing for their first season or returning with the goal of taking another step forward, the weeks before the season are a great time to build confidence and develop the skills that will help them enjoy the game.

The Countdown to Fall Is On
The LTYA season begins September 12, but preparation can start now.
Register for the LTYA league before the August 21 deadline, mark the season dates on your calendar and help your athlete arrive at their first practice ready to learn, compete and have fun.
We cannot wait to see Lake Travis athletes back on the field this fall!
